"Building pilot strategies within carefully researched and structured programs allows Orange Sparkle Ball, Inc. to easily build on pilot progress, always working toward a greater vision. This strategy also allows us to quickly adapt when pilots are unsuccessful or we have unexpected learnings. That way, pivots can happen without stopping overall program momentum."— Ashley TouchtonThis year we launched an investigation of an autonomous pickup platform to understand the logistics of multi use case pickup. With years of technology experience, Orange Sparkle Ball understands the critical importance of activatinginitiatives at the platform level. For success, pilots must ladder up to larger strategic initiatives, ideally with plans for long term viability. This allows for pilots to be iteratively tested, making improvements and pivots as needed, and incrementally understanding the requirements for sustainable programs. This strategy also allows for strategic wrap-around communication, allowing all voices to be heard and messaging to be tested and adapted in real world environments before full scale launch. For more information about our work, visit our 2023 Results page at https://lnkd.in/gAGnENEj#2023results #autonomy #autonomous #sustainability #pilotdesign #innovation #innovaitonpilot #technologypilot

Trivia Thursday!LocoMan: Scientists unveil new quadruped robot with hand-like grippers!Quadrupedal robots, exemplified by Boston Dynamics’ SPOT, excel in various environments, yet their limited manipulation capabilities hinder their potential. Attempts to equip them with traditional robotic arms often compromised their mobility. Addressing this, researchers developed the LocoMan system, which transforms robot legs into multifunctional appendages. By adding lightweight manipulators to the calves, LocoMan enables precise tasks without sacrificing agility. This advancement holds promise for enhancing the versatility of quadrupedal robots, enabling them to tackle both locomotion and manipulation taskseffectively...#TriviaThursday #trivia #trivianight #facts #fact #knowledge #engineering #mechanicalengineering #engineer #technology #science #robotics

Rice University researchers are pioneering 'necrobotics' by reanimating spider corpses to create eco-friendly robotic grippers! They've discovered that hydraulic pressure can be used to control a dead spider’s limbs, allowing these 'necrobots' to grasp delicate objects. This novel approach, blending biology and robotics, could lead to sustainable and cost-effective alternatives in soft robotics. It’s not just science fiction – it’s real science with potential environmental benefits. #Robotics #Innovation #Sustainability #Necrobotics

PAL Robotics Kangaroo free-walking PAL Robotics’ Kangaroo is a bipedal humanoid robot that is capable of free walking, thanks to the implementation of advanced software algorithms. The specific software advancements that enabled Kangaroo's free walking include the implementation of a Whole Body Inverse Dynamics Controller (WBID) algorithm and a Zero Moment Point (ZMP)-based position control algorithm. These algorithms allowed Kangaroo to solve challenges related to walking by adjusting the placement and trajectory of its feet, enabling smooth and stable movement. Additionally, the use of force control allows Kangaroo to adapt to external forces, which is useful for collaborative robotics and tasks requiring sensitivity to external forces.Video Credit: PAL Robotics#robotics #engineering #technology #robots #bipedals
